In a conversation this evening, I said:Maybe it’s a weakness, or naive, to focus on people’s good, as opposed to their bad.
No one is perfect.
People spend so much time in their own minds beating themselves up over their faults and flaws.
So, why not be the person who reminds them about the good.
*except, I may have spelled ‘focus’ as ‘focuz’. Ah, typos.
Begin to Help [tentative title]
[the poem was inspired by a favorite lyric in Coldplay’s ‘Fix You’, one of my favorite songs… thus the quotes]
“When you love someone
And it goes to waste”
Your feelings leave
Leaving an empty space
You’re stuck in a place
Where you feel half full
Left by yourself
With half a soul
[chorus-ish]
You look for support
Deep inside yourself
Even your own heart
Can’t begin to help
[bridge?]
You can’t trust anyone
But the one you long for
And even they
Leave you wanting more
Needing more
[repeat chorus-ish and bridge?]
Who can bring this
Sinking ship home
Maybe these words
I sing
Will make me whole
[‘make me whole’ repeated freely]
[chorus]

Exactly.
